Buying Chinese Products is almost unavoidable these days. Especially electronic components. Banggood, Alibaba, Aliexpress, Wish and so many others are great platforms to buy stuff. But if you do not want your Memories or Files to be destroyed DO NOT buy one on these sites. Avoid at all costs. Buy only from a know seller or from the brand itself.
So on your search engine when looking for a 512gb microsd card, the following listing appears
We selected the following card which was very cheap. Obvioulsy, we though this cannot be true so something must be fishy…but we did not expect it to be almost criminal….
So we received the card 3 weeks later and tested it, compared it with the transcend 256Gb that we had already. What came out was scary and so disapointing.
So we tested it with the SW CrystalDiskMark. Here the results. You can see that the Wish card was about 5 time slower than the Transcend card. The 7.34MB/s is a level 6 card and not a level U3 which should be 30Mb/s at least.
But then came the scary part of the test. When testing the capacity of the card we discovered that the Wish 512Gb MicroSD card was in reality a 14.6Gb Card that makes Windows believe it has 512Gb.
This means that Windows/you can copy, for example 100 files of 1Gb on it and they will appear in the directory. You will see them all listed BUT only the last 14 files you copied are readable. The rest is over-written.
This means that for example you take you camera on holiday and shoot hunderts of photos, when the camera reaches the 14.6Gb limit, then the first photos will be overwritten. 14.6Gb is not so many photos on a high resolution camera or phone….This is why the people making and selling these cards are bad people, because they destroy you memories.
Conclusion: NEVER buy these cheap Memory cards out of these Cheap Chinese Website. Buy only cards from known sellers like SanDisk, Kingston Technology, Lexar (Micron Consumer Products Group), ADATA Technology, Transcend, Samsung Group, Sony, Toshiba.
